“No…I have to finish then my electronics assignment now.”
She picked up the scale and rubber and then put it aside and started looking at the gates on the paper.

رات کا جانے کون سا پہر تھا ۔چاند اس کی کھڑکی کے سامنے آ کر ٹھہر گیا تھا ۔ اس کے سامنے دو کتابیں کھلی پڑی تھیں، ساتھ ہی کچھ صفحات تھے ۔ اوپر والے صفحے پر “And” اور “Or”گیٹس ڈرا کیے ہوئے تھے ۔اس کے اوپر اسکیل اور ربر پڑے تھے ۔پنسل اس کی انگلیوں میں دبی ہوئی تھی اور وہ کرسی پر بیٹھے بیٹھے ہی سو گئی تھی۔ ہانیہ کی آنکھ کھلی تو تاسف سے سر ہلاتے ہوئے بیڈ سے اٹھی۔اس کے پاس آکر کتابیں بند کیں اورآہستگی کے ساتھ اس کا کندھا ہلاتے ہوئے اسے پکارا۔وہ ڈر کر جاگی تھی۔ اس کے منہ سے ہلکی سی چیخ بھی نکلی۔پھر وہ خوف زدہ نظروں سے ہانیہ کی طرف دیکھنے لگی۔
”اٹھو…بستر پر سو جائو۔” وہ جیسے کچھ نہ سمجھی تھی۔ یونہی تیز سانس لیتی اسے دیکھتی رہی۔
”بستر پر جائونور …بہت رات ہو گئی ہے۔” ہانیہ نے پھر نرمی سے کہا ۔
”نہیں …مجھے ابھی الیکٹرونکس کی اسائنمنٹ مکمل کرنی ہے ۔” اس نے اسکیل اور ربر اٹھا کر ایک طرف رکھے اور کاغذ پر بنے gatesکو دیکھنے لگی۔
”صبح بنا لینا… رات آرام کے لیے ہوتی ہے ۔” ہانیہ نے دونوں کتابیں بند کر دیں ۔
”صبح مڈ ٹرم کی تیاری کرنی ہے ۔” وہ اٹھنے کو تیار نہ تھی۔
”تو یار یہ کون سا میجر ہے جس کے لیے اتنا مغز مار رہی ہو۔ مائنر ہی تو ہے، چھوڑو۔”
”علم تو علم ہوتا ہے ۔ مائنر یا میجر سے فرق نہیں پڑتا ۔ انسان زندگی میں بہت سی چیزوں کو مائنر (معمولی) سمجھ کر اہمیت نہیں دیتا۔ یہی مائنر کبھی کبھی بڑی بلا بن کر حملہ کرتے ہیں تو خوشی، سکون ، اعتبار ، اعتماد سب نگل جاتے ہیں۔” ایک اندھیری رات کی دہشت سے آج بھی اس کا رنگ پیلا پڑا ہوا تھا۔

”یار تیری باتیں تو مجھے دن میں سمجھ نہیں آتیں ، رات کے اس پہر خاک پلے پڑنی ہیں۔” ہانیہ نے جمائی لیتے ہوئے ہار مانی۔ وہ جانتی تھی کہ اب وہ اس کے پاس گھنٹا کھڑی ہو کر اس کی منتیں بھی کر لے پھر بھی وہ دوبارہ سونے والی نہیں ۔اس نے اسائنمنٹ مکمل کر کے ہی اس کرسی سے اٹھنا تھا ۔وہ بڑبڑاتی ہوئی اپنے بیڈ پر واپس گئی۔
”صدر مملکت نے ایوارڈ دینا ہے ناں تمہیں۔” ہانیہ بُرا سامنہ بناتے ہوئے بستر پر لیٹتے ہوئے بولی۔
وہ منہ پر چھینٹے مار کر دوبارہ اپنے کام میں مصروف ہو گئی۔ ہانیہ کی بڑبڑاہٹ اس کے کانوں تک پہنچتی رہی۔یہاں تک کہ وہ دوبارہ نیندکی وادی میں پہنچ گئی مگر اسے اب رات بھر نیند نہیں آنی تھی۔
اس کا دل ابھی بھی تیزی سے دھڑک رہاتھا۔ اور ماتھے پر پسینا چمک رہا تھا ۔
