“Maria. Write the name.” Ali had left the chair and sat down after seeing his expression:
“You live with your uncle too, don’t you?”
Maria didn’t answer. The same empty emptiness had again dawned on her with which she had entered the
office. She was staring at the file with her eyes fixed on the paper. Ali carefully examined it while dragging the
chair. He had a slight bruise behind his ear. There was a similar wound on the neck. From the back of the head,
it was going to the waist. Subtly, Ali grabbed the back of his shirt by the collar and slowly removed it.
He was not injured. There were signs of peeling from something. He was suddenly looking at them when Maria
suddenly jumped. He looked at Ali with suspicious eyes and shrugged his shoulders so that the collar
automatically covered his neck. Ali put a smile on his face to appease him and beckoned him to go:
“Will do the rest of the tests tomorrow. Go now.”

پر بھی تھا۔ سر کے پیچھے سے وہ یقیناً کمر تک جا رہا تھا۔ نامحسوس طریقے سے علی نے اس کی شرٹ کا پچھلا حصہ کالر سے پکڑ کر آہستگی سے
ہٹایا۔ وہ زخم نہیں تھا۔ کسی چیز سے چھیلنے کے نشان تھے۔ وہ دم بخود سا انھیں دیکھ رہا تھا کہ ماریہ یک دم اچھلی۔ اس نے سہمی نظروں سے علی کو
دیکھا اور اپنے کندھے ایسے اچکاۓ کہ کالر خودبخود گردن کو ڈھک گیا۔ علی نے اس کو مطمئن کرنے کی خاطر چہرے پر مسکراہٹ سجائی اور اسے
جانے کا اشارہ کیا:
“باقی ٹیسٹ کل کریں گے۔ اب جاؤ۔”
