“Why are your eyes turning red?” Mr. Rafi, sitting at then the breakfast table, asked after seeing his red eyes.
“Nothing, I just haven’t finished sleeping.” He shook his head in the negative, but there was anxiety in his manner that they felt.
“Why didn’t you get enough sleep, when did you sleep and I don’t think your health is good, what happened?” He asked all the questions that came to his mind one after another.
“Abu, nothing happened. I’m fine. I slept late, but I’m not feeling well and my eyes are red.”
“So, what is the reason for sleeping late?” After looking at his face carefully, he asked once again.
“Your father was working.” Hasan replied angrily.
“So the work is done.” Thus, he straightened up immediately.
“Yes, it’s done.” He started eating his breakfast thankfully, he had diverted their attention then from himself now.
“What kind of work?” She was standing in then the kitchen listening to their words. That’s why she started asking in a quick manner, making then a dough.
Hasan gave a signal to Rafi Sahib that I was not telling the reason then why he was saying that. Thus, he comforted him with the gesture of his eyes.
“Nothing, sir had given him some work for the children of the jail, that the children who cannot represent themselves as lawyers then or whose lawyers do not come, make a list of the names of these children on the case. ” کچھ نہیں بس نیند پوری نہیں ہوئی ۔ ” اس نے نفی میں سر ہلایا پر اس کے انداز میں اضطراب تھا جو انہوں نے محسوس کر لیا ۔
” کیوں پوری نہیں ہوئی نیند تمہاری کب سوئے تھے اور تمہاری طبیعت مجھے ٹھیک نہیں لگ رہی کیا ہوا ہے ۔ ” انہوں نے در پے در سارے ذہن میں آئے سوال ایکدم پوچھ ڈالے ۔
” ابو کچھ نہیں ہوا مجھے ٹھیک ہوں دیر سے سویا تھا تبھی اچھا فیل نہیں ہو رہا مجھے اور آنکھیں سرخ ہیں ۔ ” ان کے ایک ساتھ سوالات کی بوچھاڑ پر وہ جنجھلا گیا تھا ۔
” تو برخوردار دیر سے سونے کی وجہ کیا ہے ؟ ۔ ” اس کے چہرے کو غور سے دیکھ کر انہوں نے ایک بار پھر سوال کیا ۔
” کام کر رہا تھا آپ کا والا ۔ ” حسان نے چڑ کر جواب دیا ۔
” تو ہو گیا کام ۔ ” وہ یکدم سیدھے ہوئے تھے ۔
” جی ہو گیا ۔ ” وہ شکر کرتا ناشتہ کرنے لگا ان کا دھیان وہ خود سے ہٹا چکا تھا اب ۔
” کون سا کام ۔ ” ان کی باتیں کچن میں کھڑی وہ بخوبی سن رہی تھی ۔ اس لئے آٹے کا پیڑا بناتی سرسری انداز میں پوچھنے لگی ۔
حسان نے رافع صاحب کو اشارہ دیا جیسے کہہ رہا ہو اس لئے نہیں بتا رہا تھا میں وجہ ۔ انہوں نے آنکھوں کے اشارے سے اس کو تسلی دی ۔
” کچھ نہیں سر نے کچھ کام دیا تھا اس کو جیل کے بچوں کے لئے کہ جو بچے اپنے لئے وکیل نہیں کر سکتے یا جن کے وکیل نہیں آتے کیس پر ان بچوں کے نام کی لسٹ بنا لے کل ٹیم آئے گی این جی او کی طرف سے وہ ان بچوں کو اپنی طرف سے وکیل دیں گے جو ان کا کیس لڑیں گے ۔ ” انہوں نے وضاحت سے بتایا ۔

” واؤ یہ تو اچھی بات ہے یہاں تو سارے ہی بچے ایسے ہیں غریب سے جن کے پاس وکیل کرنے کے لئے پیسے نہیں ہیں بھائی آپ وہ
لسٹ مجھے دکھانا کچھ بچوں کے نام مجھے بھی یاد ہے اگر وہ لسٹ میں نہیں ہوئے تو میں انہیں لسٹ میں ایڈ کر لوں گی ۔ ” وہ پراٹھا بیلتی خوشی سے بولتی گئی ۔
” ہنہ دے دوں گا ۔ ” ناشتے میں مگن حسان نے مصروف سے انداز میں ہاں میں سر ہلایا ۔
جبکہ وہ بھی اپنا ناشتہ پلیٹ میں ڈال کر ان کے ساتھ آ بیٹھی ۔
رافع صاحب کے دو بچے تھے حسان اور میرال ان کی بیوی کا انتقال چند سال پہلے ہو گیا تھا ۔ وہ سرکاری نوکری کرتے تھے سینٹرل جیل میں گارڈ تھے جبکہ حسان بھی انہی کے ساتھ کام کر رہا تھا ۔
میرال حساس طبیعت کی مالک تھی بچپن سے جیل میں آتے جاتے لوگوں کے لئے اس کا دل دکھتا تھا ۔ اکثر جیل میں اندر بچے بیمار ہوتے تھے وہاں دوائی بہت کم دی جاتی تھی وقت پر علاج نہ ہونے کے سبب کئی بچے جان سے چلے جاتے تھے یہ اس نے اپنی ماں سے سنا تھا چونکہ رافع صاحب ہی انہیں بھی بتاتے تھے اس بات میں کتنی سچائی تھی یہ جلد اسے معلوم ہونا تھا ۔
