Facebook plans to change its company name next week to reflect its focus on building metaverse, according to a source with direct knowledge of the case. The upcoming name change, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg plans to talk about at the company’s annual Connect conference on October 28, but which could be announced earlier, aims to signal the tech giant’s ambition for more than just social media and all of them, there is with associated evil to be known.
The rebranding will likely place the blue Facebook app as one of many products under a parent company that oversees groups so like Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus and more. A spokesman for Facebook declined to comment on the story.
Facebook already has more than 10,000 employees building consumer hardware like AR glasses. Which Zuckerberg believes will at some point be as ubiquitous as smartphones. In July, he told The Verge that “in the next few years. We will effectively move from people who primarily see us as social media companies to being metaverse”.
Further Separate The Futuristic Work And Facebook Plans:
A rebranding could also serve to further separate the futuristic work Zuckerberg is focusing on from the intense study. Facebook Plans is currently researching how its social platform works. Former Whistleblower employee Frances Haugen recently leaked a series of condemning internal documents to the Wall Street Journal and testified before Congress. Antitrust authorities in the United States and elsewhere are trying to wind up the business, and public confidence in Facebook’s business is waning.

- Facebook is not the first well-known tech company to change its company name as ambitions grow.
- In 2015, Google completely reorganized itself under a holding company called Alphabet to signal,
- Among other things, that it is no longer just a search engine,
- But a scattered conglomerate of companies that manufacture self-driving cars and healthcare technology.
- And Snapchat renamed Snap Inc. in 2016 and called itself “Camera Company”.
- The same year and launched its first Spectacles camera lenses.
