HP Pavilion Plus 14

HP Pavilion Plus 14 Review – Decent Laptop for Your Daily Needs With a High Price

HP Pavilion Plus 14: Buying a computer can be a challenge, especially in India. On the other hand, there are cheap and better computers that cost less than Rs 50,000 from Xiaomi and Government. The laptop costs Rs 90,000, but on a good day, you can buy a MacBook for Rs 80,000 from an online store. Then there are laptops like the new HP Pavilion Plus 14 which looks good in terms of design and specifications but the Rs 81,999 price tag may entice some buyers.

So we wanted to test the new tent Plus 14 without changing the structure. The computer is made of high-quality steel and is characterized by increased durability. This small Windows laptop also allows users to open the lid with one hand. However, at a low price, this product is not high. It has a 12th-generation Intel Core i5 processor and Iris Xe graphics. Fortunately, this price includes 16GB of DDR4 RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.

But the big question is the HP Pavilion Plus 14 for Rs 80,000, do you want to buy it? This is a long search.

HP Plus 14 Design and Features

HP Plus 14 Design and Features

Based on the design, I can clearly say that it is not justified to compromise the quality and performance of HP at a high price. Laptops are small and portable. It has a metal finish almost everywhere, and it looks more like an aluminum color than the usual black color.

Betan Plus 14 was taken in many places during the six-week trial and there was very little concern. I even took my laptop on a recent trip around the world, and trust me, it works. However, the Pavilion Plus 14 easily fits into my bag without taking up too much space or adding a whole lot of weight.

HP has added support for the USB-C port design. Therefore, you can put the ribbon in the bag, which adds weight. I have a 90W charger that works too. But I kept the Type-C cable and adapter in my Android phone, which is more than I need.

Physical connectivity options include two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an HDMI port. There is also an SD card reader slot which I like and need to transfer data from the GoPro Hero 11. My computer works. However, if you are a creative/enthusiast, you might want to check out my Hero 11 review.

As the name suggests, the HP Pavilion Plus 14 has a 14-inch 2.2K (2240x 1400 pixels) IPS display with 300 nits of brightness, 100 sRGB colors, and scary technology. The data looks bad on paper and most users like the performance. If you need a laptop for travel, the HP Pavilion 14 Plus is not the best choice. In this case, Asus has a sub-Rs 60,000 laptop with an OLED display that offers a better display. And these computers do it well.

The display on the Pavilion 14 Plus isn’t bad, but it’s bright and responsive. I bought the iPad Pro 12 (2022) Mini LED Display. There is a lot of difference, but it can give a bright screen and an HP edge.

Well, there are two Bang & Olufsen speakers on the phone. In my tests, the sound and bass of the speaker were not enough. In other words, the Pavilion screen costs 14 more. Watching a movie without headphones is bad.

HP 14 Performance

Pavilion 14 Performance

When consumers spend Rs 80,000 on a laptop, they do not want to sacrifice performance and security. In this regard, plus the 14 pigeons in the pavilion are very impressive. But there is a big question we will discuss later.

The laptop is powered by a 4.5GHz 12-core Intel Core i5 (5-12500H) processor with Intel Turbo Boost Technology for exceptional performance when you need it. As mentioned earlier, the processor comes with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and 16GB and 512GB of storage. The laptop doesn’t have a LAN port, but it does support Wi-Fi 6E, which I wasn’t able to test, though I’d like to add it.

And do it twice. Performance is backed by Pavilion 14 Plus with excellent value and performance. It scored 4269 in the PCMark 10 CPU test, which is slightly better than the Asus VivoBook 15 (X1502) (1220P) with Core Intel i3 processor in our test. Note that it is priced at Rs 44,990, which is cheaper than the current HP laptop. Similarly, the GPU 3D Index score is 758 – again, average at best.

But with the Pavilion’s 16GB of RAM, the HP 14 Plus has an edge over its cheaper competitors. In everyday tasks, the laptop performs flawlessly even in the heat.

Switching between Chrome tabs and multiple folders is very easy. I like the HP Pavilion Plus 14 keyboard and trackpad because they both have good responsiveness. This includes an efficient fingerprint reader. I prefer the fingerprint scanner on some Asus and Dell laptops because of its sensitivity.

Since the laptop has all the displays, the game is powerful but ugly. First, it is powerful enough to run Age of Empire 5. But if you want to play games like Apex Legends, look for a laptop with a good GPU and a new screen at a reasonable price. Also, the selection list is not a problem. I think if you want a better experience with Excel or Google Sheets, you should buy a laptop with a 15″ or 16″ screen.

HP Plus 14 Battery

HP 14 Battery

In practice, the HP Pavilion 14 Plus performs well, but all struggle with poor battery life. In normal use (brightness 80%, volume 50%), the laptop lasts only 4.5 hours. Battery life is reduced at maximum brightness. And when you scroll down to the baseline, the Pavilion 14 Plus lasts 5 hours, which is impressive.

A 51Wh battery with a 90W USB-C charger lasts about 1-1.30 hours. So remember to pay promptly.

HP Pavilion Plus 14 Verdict

 Plus Verdict

Let me start this review by saying that buying a premium laptop in India can be tough and the HP Pavilion 14 Plus is one of the toughest laptops we recommend. I have no complaints about the design, and the MacBook stands apart in terms of design.

It can handle normal tasks like web browsing, watching movies, phone and gaming mindlessly, but that is an extra hassle due to low battery life plus 80000 is boring and would scare me from buying. However, if the price drops to Rs 55,000, it could be a good buy if HP decides to charge more.

But the presence of this laptop doesn’t mean HP is out of ideas. The company also has a market share in India and the new laptops are doing well in the enviable Omen segment. But it was still noted that HP should be considered, making it effective but expensive.
