بات وہ آدھی رات کی۔۔۔۔
رات وہ پورے چاند کی ۔۔
چاند بھی ہے کہ چیت کا ۔۔۔
اس پر تیرا جمال بھی ۔۔۔۔۔۔
کچھ تو ہوا بھی سرد تھی
کچھ تھا تیرا خیال بھی ۔
سب سے نظر بچا کے وہ ۔۔
مجھ کو تھا ایسے دیکھتا ۔۔۔
ایک دفعہ تو رک گئی گردش ماہ و سال بھی ۔۔
اسکو نہ پا سکے تھے جب ۔۔۔
دل کا عجیب حال تھا ۔۔۔
اب جو پلٹ کر دیکھتے ۔۔۔
بات تھی کچھ محال بھی ۔۔۔
—کچھ تو ہوا بھی سرد تھی
