دادی کے کہنے پہ شاہ نے سامنے والے صوفے پہ سے نوٹ بک اٹھاٸی اور دوبارہ دادی کے پاس آ بیٹھا۔ نور بانو کے چہرے پہ ہواٸیاں اُڑنے لگیں۔
” شاہ۔۔۔” ذکا ٕ اللہ نے پہلا لفظ پڑھ کر فاتحانہ نظروں سے اسے دیکھا۔ نور بانو نے اشارے سے اسے منع کیا، ہاتھ جوڑے ، کان پکڑے اگر دادی نہ بیٹھی ہوتیں تو قریب آ کر اسکے پیر بھی پڑجاتی۔
” شاہی قوفتے بنانے کی ترکیب لکھی ہے دادی” شاہ نے نوٹ بک بند کر کے ساٸیڈ پہ رکھی۔ نوربانو نے مشکور نظروں سے اسے دیکھا۔
تھوڑی دیر بعد مہربانو چاٸے بنا کر لے آٸی تب تک وہاں چڑیا گھر بن چکا تھا۔ سب لڑکیاں وہاں جمع ہو چکی تھیں اور خوش گپیوں میں مصروف تھیں۔
” مہرو سن یہ جو تُو نے اپنی کاپی میں شاہی قوفتوں کی ترکیب لکھی ہوٸی ہے آج رات کے کھانے میں یہ بھی بنا لینا آخر کو ہمارے گھر کا اکلوتا چشم و چراغ میرا شہزادہ آج اتنے دن بعد گھر آیا ہے” دادی نے اسے دیکھتے ہی حکم دیا اور پیار سے اپنے گھٹنے کے ساتھ جڑے بیٹھے شاہ کو دیکھا۔
” کونسے قوفتے دادی؟” مہربانو نے نا سمجھی سے دیکھا۔
” اری وہی جو تُو اس وقت اپنی کاپی میں لکھ رہی تھی”

” جی جی دادی ہم بنا لیں گے” نوربانو جلدی سے بولی اس سے پہلے کہ مہربانو خود ہی اپنا بھانڈہ پھوڑتی۔
” تمیز سے لڑکیوں یہ کونسا طریقہ ہے سب اکٹھے ہی شروع ہو جاتی ہو ایک ایک کر کے بات کیا کرو” دادی نے پٹر پٹر بولتی سب لڑکیوں کو ٹوکا۔
” میرے تو سر میں درد ہو گیا۔ اور ہاں شہزادے کو تنگ مت کرنا کچھ دیر آرام کرنے دو”
دادی نے اپنا چاٸے کا کپ اٹھایا اور جاتے جاتے تاکید کی۔ سب نے شاہ پر ایک ساتھ دھاوا بول رکھا تھا کہ وہ اس دفعہ کراچی سے انکے لیے کیا کیا لایا۔
مہربانو چاٸے کا کپ لے کر حوربانو کے پاس بیٹھ گٸی۔
” دیکھیں مہرو باجی شاہ بھاٸی میرے لیے گڑیا لاٸے” حوربانو نے اپنی گڑیا مہربانو کو دکھاٸی۔ گلابی فراک پہنے، سنہرے بالوں اور نیلی آنکھوں والی گڑیا نے ہاتھ میں گٹار پکڑ رکھا تھا۔
” ہوں اچھی ہے” مہربانو نے اچپٹی سے نظر ڈالی۔ اسکا دماغ دادی کی بات پہ ہی اٹکا ہوا تھا۔ تیوری چڑھاٸے وہ براہِ راست سامنے بیٹھے شاہ سے مخاطب ہوٸی۔
” اگر تم خاندان کے اکلوتے چشم و چراغ ہو تو پھر ہم کون ہیں؟” مہربانو چِڑ کر بولی۔ اسے دادی کی بات ناگوار گزری تھی۔
” سات موم بتیاں” ذکا ٕ اللہ نے چاٸے کا سپ لیا۔
” ایک چراغ سے اتنی ساری موم بتیوں کی روشنی زیادہ ہوگی” مہربانو نے گردن اکڑاتے ہوٸے اپنا نادیدہ کالر کھڑا کیا۔
” مگر ہم تو آٹھ ہیں” اچانک اسے ذکا شاہ کی غلط گنتی کی طرف دھیان گیا۔
